The only Bosnian restaurant in Dubrovnik, Taj Mahal serves traditional Bosnian cuisine in a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. The staff is friendly, though they can get a bit overwhelmed once the restaurant is full. There are also outdoor tables in the tiny side street that the restaurant is located on.
Typically the dishes are rather simple, focusing on fresh ingredients and natural flavors rather than tons of spices. There are hints from Turkish, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cultures that are fairly easily detectable in the dishes available at the Taj Mahal.
Check out some of the more traditional Bosnian dishes such as the Burek, which is a phyllo pastry filled with cheese, meat, or vegetables. They also have a variety of soups that are quite delicious if you’re there on a cooler evening.
The Taj Mahal speciality is a favorite dish and carries the restaurant’s name for a reason. The dish is created with veal in dough with mushrooms and two kinds of cheese and is sure to please. Also, be sure to try the traditional Ćevapi, which is small grilled rolls of ground beef, veal, or lamb, served with chopped onions in a flat bread.
