Windsor Castle- London

One of the most popular attractions in the greater London area, Windsor Castle offers the opportunity to tour a home still in active use by the royal family. With history going back almost 1,000 years, Windsor Castle is the Official Residence of The Queen. Because the castle is in active use, at various times and dates some areas may be off limits to the general public.

State Apartments – residences for the royal family

Queen Mary’s Dolls House – an incredible collection of huge and intricately crafted doll houses

Drawings Gallery – icurrently featuring “Prince Philip: Celebrating 90 years”, from 4 February 2012 will be featuring “The Queen: Sixty Photographs for Sixty Years”

St George’s Chapel – an ornate chapel dating hundreds of years and the burial place of ten monarchs, including King Henry VIII and Jane Seymour

Getting to Windsor Castle
From Waterloo Station – take the Southwest Train service, approximately 55 minutes £8.60 each way. Train times
From Paddington Station – take the First Great Western train to Slough, which takes around 22 minutes, with perhaps 1 or two stops depending on the service selected. From Slough, platform 1 you switch over to platform 5 and there is a direct service to Windsor, which takes about 5 minutes. Train times
