Dublin is the ideal weekend getaway to enjoy a historical and laid back city. This is certainly one of the cities that location is the most important aspect of booking a hotel so be sure to shop around. It is ideal to find a hotel in the most central spot that you can; however, it may not be best to stay right in the Temple Bar area as it will be rowdy and fairly loud year round late into the night.
It would be quite difficult to stand on a street corner in this city and not be able to spot at least one pub within eyesight. The locals are friendly and the pubs are always packed. Be sure to check out the highlights, including the Guinness Storehouse for the perfect pint, Trinity Church to see the Book of Kells and take a stroll through Temple Bar. If you’re really in the mood for enlightenment hit up the prime tourist attraction that is the leprechaun museum.
Flights to Dublin tend to be fairly cheap from the United Kingdom or the US on Aer Lingus; although they’re technically a low cost airline their airplanes and service are not reminiscent of the Ryan Air or Southwest experience. Transportation from the airport to the city center is also quite easy with buses leaving from the terminal and going to multiple drop off points within central Dublin.
