For a small town, Kennebunkport, Maine has plenty to offer for just about anyone. There are just enough bars to keep things interesting between strolling through the picturesque downtown and heading out on some sort of fishing or whale watching excursion.
Where to eat and drink
The Clam shack is the ultimate, low-key stop for any seafood lover. An innocuous joint right on the edge of downtown, the lobster rolls, steamers and clam strips are some of the best in Maine. They also have a good selection of beers that you can relax with at the picnic tables while overlooking the water.
Federal Jack’s is the spot to go for more a diverse menu while in downtown Kennebunkport. It is a laid back restaurant with a reasonably priced menu. They also have a huge beer list. Try the Taint Town Pale Ale, named for the fact that the restaurant is not in the port and not in the town (it aint town, it aint the port). On the weekends the place also turns into more of a party spot later in the evening with live music and dancing. The back room also has pools tables and standard bar games.

Where to stay
The Colony Hotel is an ideal spot to rest your head while in Kennebunkport. Located just outside of the downtown area, the hotel is spacious, clean and (relatively) quiet. Rooms start at about $229 so it’s not the cheapest option, but it’s worthwhile. If you’re looking for a standard room, ask for a room in the East House, which is not in the main hotel, but the rooms are much bigger and newer.
