The island of Gozo has some incredible dive sites around the entire island with visibility of up to 30 meters when the weather is good. The area’s warm weather and tendency for dry weather means that the natural formations are often accessible year round.
Because there are such an abundance of dive sites, there are areas to suit divers of all levels of experience. Even if you are new to scuba diving or are an Open Water Diver that can only do to 18 meters, there are many options for exploring underwater caves and arches. There are also many areas that are well known by your local guides for seeing soft corals and all types of aquatic life.
Gozo’s top dive sites include the world famous Blue Hole in Dwejra, located near the Azure Window, one of Gozo’s most famous natural formations. You can also go wreck diving in Xatt l-Ahmar (Red Coast) or take a leisurely dive to see sea horses and explore a cave at Mgarr ix Xini, which is also a great place to less experienced divers to visit.
There are many dive companies located on Gozo, so depending on where you are headed and the time of year you may want to get a quote from a few of them with as much time to spare as possible.
Gozo AquaSports is highly recommended due to a great, long history of diving on the island, patient and helpful guides and a professional demeanor. During busy periods they offer two accompanied dives per day; in slower periods they are quite flexible in terms of setting up dives for individuals or groups. The rates are also very reasonable, at €25.00 per dive and €12.50 for equipment rental per dive. They also offer instruction for PADI qualifications.
