If you are traveling to Panama City you have to stay at Villa Palma Boutique Hotel. Period. This small hotel on the edge of the old city is unique and charming but also has every amenity and convenience of a larger hotel chain.
This hotel’s decor is incredibly detailed and unique. As soon as you walk through the front door your eyes are darting around trying to take in all of the intricate design details from the bar area on. In addition to the dining room and small bar on the ground floor, there is a large, open roof deck that serves drinks and snacks with an incredible view of the skyline of downtown Panama City. Do not miss your chance to get a glimpse of the sunset from this roof deck.
The rooms are all unique and the ornate designs continue on here. Rooms vary from smaller, one to two person hotel rooms up to the multi-floor suites. Based on the size of the building from the outside I was shocked at the huge size of the hotel rooms. Because it is a unique setup in the hotel, the two rooms that we stayed in had their own separate staircase which meant that it was quite quiet and peaceful. We could also leave our doors open to go back and forth between rooms without anyone walking by.
The rooms are spacious, have great air conditioning (which is vital in Panama, depending on what season you are visiting in) and were exceptionally clean. With a price tag of just over $100 USD per night, this was a great and fun hotel, but it was also a bargain. From this location you can walk to shops and restaurants. It is also very close to the local airport.
