This winter has been extremely mild in many places but there are still options out there, some traditional locations and some that may not be the typical locations that you think of you when you’re ready to head to the slopes. Because some may be skeptical about the conditions you also may be able to get some good deals, even last minute. Pack up and head to our top 3 picks for skiing and riding this winter in northern California, Austria or … Dubai!
Lake Tahoe
Although the Tahoe area has not yet been hit with the standard feet upon feet of snow, the snow report from Heavenly is reporting a base of 25-35″. They are operating 22 lifts and do make some concessions like shuttling skiers and riders to lifts that are close by for free. Check Flight Deals to Reno on Alaska Airlines, deals were available for as low as $86* one-way from Seattle and Spokane Tacoma as of February 6
Serfaus, Austria
The Serfaus area, including Fiss and Ladis is reporting ‘great conditions’ while they are only expecting an additional 1 cm of snow this week. The cold conditions, with a max temp this week of 1°C – 12°C are keeping the snow that they’ve accumulated to date. Fly into Munich (about a 2 hour drive) or grab a connection and land in Innsbruck which is quite close to Serfaus.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
If you want to go skiing and don’t care for the cold or want to be ensured that the snow will be there when you go, head out to the warm climates of Dubai, which is warm and pleasant this time of year. You can head over the indoor ski area at the Mall of the Emirates where the skiing is open year round and the indoor conditions mean that the snow is always ready and waiting (and you can head to the beach before and/or after).
