Liverpool is a very up and coming city with drastic renovations to it’s downtown area in the past few years. What used to be a port and industrial town has reinvented itself to become a trendy center for pop culture, bands and shopping.
The newly renovated Liverpool One area is brand new and offers shoppers a huge variety of options for shopping and dining in a very modern setting. The city has also undergone drastic changes to it’s landscape with the introduction of many new, very modern architectural projects, redesigning the skyline of the city quickly. The new shopping areas and more upscale feel makes it an ideal location for a relaxing weekend.
Be sure to check out the Albert Dock area, where you can visit the Beatles Experience ( be sure to save a few hours for this since it takes place in two separate locations ). There are a variety of restaurants for casual dining as well.
if you can get tickets, try to attend a Liverpool Football Club game at the legendary Anfield Stadium. Unlike any other sporting event you’ll attend, the locals are quite intense and the games can be a bit stressful, even if you are not a die-hard fan. The stadium is about a 20-30 minute walk from the city – you can also take tours in the morning of non-game days.
Liverpool is only a two hour train ride from London and also has a busting airport. Ferries are also available for going directly to Dublin.
