Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar in Boston is a relatively new hotspot in Back Bay with a very unassuming facade that’s easy to miss. Lolita offers a dimly lit atmosphere that’s become as popular for the huge array of tequilas and great food as for the quieter, relaxed vibe.
Atmosphere at Lolita
Lolita is located just below street level in the trendy and convenient Back Bay area. Because of it’s dimly lit bar and restaurant area (where you will likely struggle to read your tequila menu) it is a popular spot for happy hour gatherings or meeting friends for a drink. However, the small bar areas (there are two of them) offer extremely limited seating so try to get there on the early side if you plan on having appetizers in the bar or you’re going to be stuck standing.
Drinks at Lolita
There are a plethora of tequila-based cocktails on the menu as well as a variety of margaritas, mojitos and sangrias that are quite tasty. The tequila menu itself is robust and offers a huge variety, priced anywhere from $8 to $275. You can also choose from five different tequila flights priced from $20 to $50.
Food at Lolita
While primarily Mexican influenced, with tacos, quesadillas and carnitas on the menu, they also offer fire grilled salmon and garlic lime chicken for those who are interested in a purely Mexican dish. All of the items I’ve tried were delicious. Beware that if you don’t like spicy items you should ask your waitress because a few items (Mahi Mahi tacos) that don’t sound spicy make have a decent kick to them.
Deals at Lolita
Every Monday is Taco Monday at Lolita. Stop in for all you can eat tacos for only $7 – an incredible deal in the pricey Back Bay area.
