The Marliave is a bit of a hidden gem near Park Street station. Located down a tiny side street to the side of the Omni Parker House, it’s not a big tourist destination, despite it’s central location because it’s not on a main thoroughfare. The food is quite good but the daily dollar oysters make it well worth stopping in for a drink during the two happy hours.
Dining at Marliave
The regular restaurant is semi-formal dining with a huge variety from entrees like beef wellington, steak frites and diver scallops, ranging from $18 – $36. There is also a sandwich menu with selections like steak and cheese, portobello, burgers and reubens ranging from $14-$16.
I highly recommend trying the Diver Scallops: Diver scallops: Jumbo scallops, Wild mushrooms, Sweet Potato Ravioli,
Pumpkin Seeds ($34). Delicious and perfectly cooked with a light sauce and scrumptious miniature ravioli on top.
The bar at Marliave
The Marliave’s bar is quaint and decent sized, fitting about 15 people at the bar. Bar tenders are knowledgeable and friendly with above average skills at crafting your cocktails. The drinks are not cheap, but if you’re there for $1 oysters it all balances out.
Appetizers at Marliave
The appetizer list at The Marliave is extensive and delicious, a perfect compliment to your $1 oysters at the bar. The escargot, mussels and beets are top notch and reasonably priced. Some of the items like the caesar salad is a bit over-priced so focus on the items that are unique to The Marliave rather than the staples that you can get at any place in the city.
Deals at The Marliave
From 4-6 and 9-10 PM everyday the Marliave offers $1 oysters and clams. These are not standard happy hour, tiny oysters. They typically have a selection of 3 or 4 different varieties, all of which are top notch and are served with cocktail sauce, prosecco and lemon.
